Synopsis

Workplace safety inspections and incident investigations are essential for identifying hazards, preventing workplace incidents, and strengthening an organisation’s safety performance.

This programme equips participants with practical knowledge and skills to conduct effective workplace safety inspections, identify hazards and unsafe conditions, and recommend appropriate risk control measures. Participants will also learn a structured approach to incident investigation, including gathering relevant information, identifying immediate and root causes, and recommending corrective and preventive actions.

Through practical examples and workplace applications, participants will develop greater confidence in recognising safety concerns, investigating incidents systematically, and contributing to a safer and more proactive workplace safety culture.

Upon completion of this programme, participants will be able to:

  1. Plan and conduct workplace safety inspections using a systematic approach to identify hazards, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
  2. Assess workplace safety findings and recommend appropriate measures to eliminate or control identified risks.
  3. Apply a structured incident investigation process to gather facts and determine how and why an incident occurred.
  4. Use appropriate investigation and root cause analysis techniques to identify immediate, underlying and contributing causes.
  5. Recommend corrective and preventive actions to address identified causes and reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
  6. Understand the principles of Total Workplace Safety and Health (TWSH) and how they can support workplace safety and health practices.
  7. Contribute to continuous improvement in workplace safety performance through effective inspections, investigations and follow-up actions.
